A note from The Beautiful For Thee Editor:

The thoughts presented from Dianne on Choice Silver, come from her personal experience from her bed of affliction. She lives with physical debilitation, every day. Pain and weakness are her constant companions. Her words of wisdom are not the empty babblings of pious Christianity, but truth learned first hand. Her faith is real. Most days, that is all she has to lean on. Because of adversity…she is growing strong in the Lord and she inspires me.

May all who read her thoughts, be blessed and challenged.

The View From My Nest...

Tonight I sat and listened to my daughter play the piano.  She was playing, “His Eye Is On the Sparrow” and I was prompted to look up the words. I’m glad I did!

His Eye Is On The Sparrow.

Civilla D. Martin

Verse 1:
Why should I feel discouraged,
Why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart feel lonely
And long for Heav'n and home,
When Jesus is my portion?
A constant Friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches over me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

Refrain:
I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me

His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me.

Verse 2:
"Let not your heart be troubled,"
His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness,
I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth
But one step I may see:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

Verse 3:
Whenever I am tempted,
Whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing,
When hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him,
From care He sets me free:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He cares for me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He cares for me.

This song really encouraged my heart. It's a Biblical song reminding us that God is watching over us. I don’t have to worry. I don’t have to fear or be troubled. I don’t have to be depressed, live in doubt or feel lonely. I can rise above it all and sing.

Why not! This world is packed full of all kinds of darkness. People are lost and need to see some glimmer of light. It might as well come from those who say they are Christians. I ask myself real often...”What am I doing here?” Not what am I doing living in North Dakota. But what am I, as a Christian doing… that makes any difference for eternity right now... right here.

Just this week I saw an ad for a movie that is coming out.  I was wracking my brain trying to figure out the name of an actor playing in it.  What a waste of time! It made me angry that I actually remembered the actor’s name. Immediately the Lord smote my heart with the realization that I don’t even know the names of all my neighbors.  The Bible tells us to redeem the time.

Ephesians 5:16 “ Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

This verse describes our world today (evil) and it gives me a job to do. ( redeem the time.) I can’t redeem the time if I'm troubled, discouraged, lonely or distracted by the world’s system.  How can I reach anyone for the Lord in that state of being?

The song, “His Eye is on the Sparrow”, reminded me that God knows and sees what I am going through and He is able to take care of me. I don’t have to carry my own burdens around. I can let them all go to Him. When I let them all go, it enables me to see past me... so I can see my neighbors, my family and my sisters in the Lord who have needs too. I can sing and be happy no matter what may come my way, because I am truly free. My wonderful God takes care of me!

Luke 12:24 “ Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?

LORD, help me to trust You for everything in this life, so that I might be a better witness of You to those around me that need you too!
