A note from The Beautiful For Thee Editor:

The thoughts presented from Dianne on Choice Silver, come from her personal experience from her bed of affliction. She lives with physical debilitation, every day. Pain and weakness are her constant companions. Her words of wisdom are not the empty babblings of pious Christianity, but truth learned first hand. Her faith is real. Most days, that is all she has to lean on. Because of adversity…she is growing strong in the Lord and she inspires me.

May all who read her thoughts, be blessed and challenged.

I Want To Be A Conqueror

This morning, I found Romans 8:37 such an encouragement.

Romans 8:37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

I love Romans 8…. the whole chapter is incredible! Isn't it just like our wonderful God to go above and beyond what we could ever imagine. This verse says, "we are MORE than conquerors".

First of all, I have to be involved in some kind of battle to even be a conqueror. In this case, it's a battle between my flesh and the spirit of God that dwells within me. Chapter 8 talks a lot about this. It becomes even more clear when I go back and read Romans 7:18-19. “ For I know that in me (that is my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good thing that I would I do not; but the evil which I would not, that I do.”

This sounds all too familiar. We know God's Word has the answer for any given situation and all the circumstances we find ourselves in, in this life. We know the right thing to do. But... our flesh...

Galatians 5:17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: (sounds like a battle to me) so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” But... our great God...

Romans 8:31What shall we say then to these things?” Those battles, the trials, the hard questions, our own flesh. Here’s what I have to remember… “If God be for us, who can be against us?”

The battle is on. I only have two choices in the matter. Submit to my flesh and feelings, or submit to the Spirit of God that dwells in me. The battles really are not mine anyway. They belong to God. Romans 8:37 tells me so. It says, "we are more than conquerors THROUGH HIM that loved us".

The statement "more than conquerors" reminds me of the account in I Samuel 17 when David came against Goliath. You have to read it, it's so good! Not only did David kill Goliath, he cut his head off too. Why?

I Samuel 17:47And all the assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with the sword and spear: For the battle is the Lord's and he will give you into our hands.”

Our God can do the impossible. When we hand the battle over to God... everyone--- our family, our friends, our neighbors- they will see what a great thing God did for us. He will get all the glory. And you never know, maybe one lost soul will finally believe and be saved.
Our God is a great God!

I love how Chapter 8 ends in Romans 8:38-39For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, ( breath...:-) Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Even in my hardest times, I’m safe in the Lord’s hands!

Well... these two verses pretty much cover every battle we could ever imagine facing. And God has promised that absolutely nothing will ever be able to separate us from His love. We must surrender all the feelings of our flesh to God. Just hand them all to Him.

And... in that moment we are more than conquerors. All because God loves us so much.
