I read something this morning that spoke to my heart. I needed it. Now I will share it with you…
~ The real work of God for the children of Israel, did not happen when they awoke in the morning, but it occurred "all that night." Through the night of your life (the scary dark days), as you trust God, He works.
Exodus 14:21 “And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land and the waters were divided.”
God made a way through the night. He didn’t just take their problem away. He could have, but they would have missed out on seeing Him do something awesome for them.
The trial came...they cried out to God… They only had two choices. Take the way He made or be taken by the enemy.
I wonder, if in the middle of the night some got scared and confused? I wonder if the strong east wind made it hard for the weak to walk through without falling down. Maybe some of them lost their belongings along the way.
This reminds me of Hebrews 12:1 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth
so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”
I'm sure the less "stuff" the children of Israel had to drag with them through the night, the easier the night trip was. Probably, those who had been trusting God long before the trial came, were the very ones who helped the fallen, weighted down ones.
I'm sure it made them tired.
I read the next chapter. I wonder if we miss out on a lot when we don’t do what they did? I mean-- they made it through the night! But... maybe what happens after the night is just as important as how they made it through.
Exodus 15:1-2 “Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the Lord, for He hath triumphed gloriously. The horse and rider hath He thrown into the sea. The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.”
Everyone knew the night was over and everyone was ok, AND God did an incredible thing for them. But they did not fail praise Him.
What do we do after God delivers us from our dark night? I so want….to praise Him more! I know within days they were all wretched and unthankful again but... that is another story.
A note from The Beautiful For Thee Editor:
The thoughts presented from Dianne on Choice Silver, come from her personal experience from her bed of affliction. She lives with physical debilitation, every day. Pain and weakness are her constant companions. Her words of wisdom are not the empty babblings of pious Christianity, but truth learned first hand. Her faith is real. Most days, that is all she has to lean on. Because of adversity…she is growing strong in the Lord and she inspires me.
May all who read her thoughts, be blessed and challenged.
