I decided tonight that I want an extreme makeover. Not of my wardrobe, body, or any room in my house. Although that would be fun. I want an extreme makeover of my heart.
Psalm 51:10 "Create in me a clean heart O God; and renew a right spirit within me."
Someone asked me a few days ago, if I am still as happy and excited today as I was the day I got saved? Good question. What a miracle! What an awesome thing God did for me! It reminds me of Psalm 40:1-3, "I waited patiently for the Lord; and he heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it and fear, and trust the Lord."
I have to be honest. I was convicted by that question. A lot has happened since the day I got saved. Trials have come and left scars, dents, and cobwebs in my heart. I have to admit, my heart is dull and dreary too often. I don’t want to live that way. I am a daughter of God. I love to see the transformation that takes place in a room when something as simple as a new coat of paint is applied. Or the difference a new haircut makes. It changes everything!
God has supplied everything we need for an extreme heart makeover. He has given us His Word and His Holy Spirit within us. Sometimes we might not even realize where the problem area is, we just know something is not right. That is why reading the Bible is as important as the needed air to breath.
Romans 4:12 " For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
If we ask and seek...God will show us exactly what and where the problem area is. It's simple really... Romans 12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
The Bible tells us in Proverbs 4:23 "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life."
Had I applied this verse more often, maybe there would be less scars, dents and cobwebs in my heart. I am so thankful that our God is full of compassion and remembers that we are dust. I am so thankful that our God is the Master of renewing the heart. He sees the dull, dreary places and knows exactly how to fix them. What a wonderful God!
