A note from The Beautiful For Thee Editor:

The thoughts presented from Dianne on Choice Silver, come from her personal experience from her bed of affliction. She lives with physical debilitation, every day. Pain and weakness are her constant companions. Her words of wisdom are not the empty babblings of pious Christianity, but truth learned first hand. Her faith is real. Most days, that is all she has to lean on. Because of adversity…she is growing strong in the Lord and she inspires me.

May all who read her thoughts, be blessed and challenged.

What To Do On One of Those Days

Ever have one of those days when you're walking along minding your own business, skinny, dumb and happy?

You're even thinking Philippians 4:8 kind of thoughts. And then… out of nowhere, it seems like someone comes along and just pulls the rug out from under you?  There you lay… flat on your face and wondering what just happened and… how did I get here?

I've had some days like this lately. I don't like them at all! I know almost everyone has had times like these. A friend of mine reminded me of this verse just this morning. I Corinthians  10:13  "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."

While laying there flat on my face, I thought it might be a good idea to pray and ask God what I needed to learn and what I should do.

This is the answer I got.

1.  Proverbs 24:16 "For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief."
Don't stay down. Get back up even if you feel like you can't!

Remember...II Corinthians 12:9 "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

It's all about God's grace and His strength, not what we can muster up. He is all sufficient.  We are weak. The Bible describes us like this. Psalm 103:14  "For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust."

2.  Hebrews 12:1 " Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us."

Maybe God needs to get our attention. Ask Him to search your heart. Psalm 139:23 "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:"

If need be, get rid of the sin and the weights. We all know the things that easily trip us up and cause us to fall. Get rid of them! And remember there are those that are watching us.  One more thing... this verse says to run with patience.

James 1:4 "But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."  Pastor has been teaching on this a lot lately.  Won't it be great to get to that "perfect and entire wanting nothing" stage!!?

3.  James 4:8 "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded."

Don't allow the devil to mess with your mind and cause you to doubt things you once held on to, from God's Word.  Instead draw closer to God. Have you ever watched little children when they fall and get hurt. They always look for mom or dad and run to them for comfort. They found comfort in their arms before and know where to go when hurting again.

Luke 11:13 " If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?"

Luke 12:7 "But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows."

I don't care what the devil says. God loves and cares about us. Our heavenly Father knows when the devil is trying to hurt us and cause us to fall. He wants us to run to Him!

Psalm 32:7 "Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah."

Psalm 18:2
"The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower."
He is all we need!

4.  Psalm 112:7 " He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD."

Fix your heart and mind on the truth of God's Word and don't let go of it! We don't always see that trouble is right around the next corner. But, God can see around every corner and winding path. He knows everything!

Isaiah 42:16 "And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them."

"We can trust Him completely. Don't give up!  Often the last step is the winning step. It is when heaven's heights are in full view that the gates of hell are the most persistent and full of deadly peril."

Let's determine to stay faithful to the one who never gave up on us. We may fall, get knocked down and have the rug pulled out from under us some days, but remember this….

Psalm 37:24 "Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand."

Being in God's Hand is not a bad place to be.

Thanks Dianne,

What great verses to remember. We can have the victory in every trial with the Lord's help. We just need to keep getting up and moving forward for the Lord and with His help!
